Reference Services:
 
Reference services provide assistance in the areas of research, teaching, administrative and patient care to attending physicians, faculty, residents, students and staff affiliated with Bridgeport Hospital.
 
A librarian is available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at ext. 3615 to answer general questions and provide assistance regarding collections, services and information resources available at the Reeves Health Sciences Library. Appointments are recommended for individuals seeking training or in-depth assistance.
 
Librarians also provide literature searches and current awareness services for clinicians and nurses who need updates of the journal literature on a topic or field of interest. The library provides a variety of electronic resources for those wishing to conduct their own literature searches.
 
Services Available:
 
Quick Reference: Librarians can help you quickly locate factual information contained in the reference book collection. Questions may be posed in person or by mail, telephone (ext. 3254) or email (library@bpthosp.org).
 
Literature Searching: Librarians are available to help answer more complex questions necessitating formal searches of the medical literature. Questions are accepted in person, by telephone (203-384-3254 or ext. 3254) or via e-mail (library@bpthosp.org). When possible, please ask to wpeak directly to a Librarian to ensure that the he or she understands all aspects of your request. Searches are generally complete in 24 hours, but may be longer depending on the complexity of the topic. Searching may be picked up at the Library or faxed to the requester. There is no charge for this service.
 
Literature Searches for Patient Care Emergencies: If you have a patient care emergency, please come to the Library or call ext. 3254.
 
Locating Materials: Any Library staff member can tell you if we own specific books, journals, and audiovisuals and can help you find them in the library.
 
Verification: Library staff can assist you in identifying the correct citation when you are looking for a specific article or book.
