The Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine is David Kaufman, MD. The Director of the Pulmonary Disease Fellowship Program is Armand Wolff, MD. The Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit is Constantine Manthous, MD. Dr. Manthous is also the Director of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. Nicholas Dainiak, MD is the Chairman of the Department of Medicine.
David Kaufman, MD is the Chief of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital. He received his medical degree and performed his Internal Medicine Residency at Columbia University and completed his fellowship in pulmonary & critical care medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications and abstract presentations at national meetings. Dr. Kaufman serves as a reviewer for several journals, including Intensive Care Medicine and has presented lectures on several critical care topics, ranging from sepsis and septic shock to care for the critically ill cardiac surgery patient.
Armand Wolff, MD, FCCP, FAASM is the Director of the Pulmonary Disease Fellowship at Bridgeport Hospital. He received his medical degree from and did his Internal Medicine residency at Creighton University Medical School. He completed his Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship training at Georgetown University Medical Center. He has authored publications for peer-reviewed journals as well as a number of review articles and has presented abstracts at several national meetings. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care by the American board of Internal Medicine as well as Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
Constantine Manthous, MD, FACP, FCCP performed his Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Chicago with Drs, Jesse Hall, Gregory Schmidt, and Lawrence Wood, the editors of the definitive Critical Care test book: Principles of Critical Care. He has a very active clinical research program in which the residents, the fellows, and some of the medical students play an integral role. In addition to being Director of both the Medical Intensive Care Unit and the Internal Medicine Residency he is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at Yale University. In addition to his numerous peer reviewed publications, Dr. Manthous has written chapters in many textbooks and a number of review articles. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Jeff Kwon, MD is the Associate Director of Sleep Medicine at Bridgeport Hospital. He received his medical degree at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and pursued his Internal Medicine residency, Pulmonary and Critical Care medicine fellowships, and Sleep Medicine fellowship at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Dr. Kwon has authored publications in peer-reviewed journals and is a member of the American Thoracic Society, American College of Chest Physicians, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care.
John-Paul Michael Ayala, MD is the Assistant Program Director for the Pulmonary Disease Fellowship Program. He received his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. He did his Internal Medicine Residency and his Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine Fellowship at the New York- Presbyterian Hospital/Joan and Sanford I. Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr Ayala is in practice with Drs. Rudolph, Turetsky, and Salam.
Daniel J. Rudolph, MD is the Director of Bronchoscopy. He is a member of a large and busy private practice that is fully integrated with the Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine Section. He is an active participant in both the Pulmonary Disease Fellowship and the Internal Medicine Residency Programs. He received his medical degree from New York University and trained at Stony Brook University Hospital and Jacobi Hospital of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. His work at Albert Einstein included a publication in Thorax and he is an active participant in our clinical research program. He is certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Disease, and Critical Care Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr Rudolph is in practice with Drs. Turetsky, Salam, and Ayala.
Adil Salam, MD practices Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. In addition to attending in the Intensive Care Unit and on the Pulmonary Consultation Service, he recently joined our sleep medicine section. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine he did his Pulmonary and Sleep Fellowships here at Bridgeport Hospital. He also is active in both the Pulmonary Disease Fellowship and the Internal Medicine Residency Program. His research has been focused on extubation outcomes. He has multiple peer reviewed publications. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr Salam is in practice with Drs. Rudolph, Turetsky, and Ayala.
Arthur Turetsky, MD, FCCP practices Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine. In addition to participating in The Pulmonary Disease Fellowship he is very active in teaching sleep medicine to the feloows. He got his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he also did his residency and fellowship training. His special interest is sleep and he is a diplomat of the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is active in both the Pulmonary Fellowship and the Internal Medicine Residency Program. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Dr Turetsky is in practice with Drs. Rudolph, Salam, and Ayala where he is the senior partner.

Scott C. Williams, MD is Associate Attending Radiologist and Section Chief of Nuclear Medcine. He is active in teaching chest radiology to the Pulmonary Fellows, both in formal didactics as well as on a case by case basis in the Radiology Department.
Arthur Kotch, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM has had a long and distinguished teaching career and has been active in the fields of Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Sleep Medicine, and Alpha-1 anti-trypsinase deficiency emphysema. He has many peer reviewed publications and has been an active member of the Connecticut Thoracic Society and the Connecticut Chapter of the American Lung Association. He is certified in Internal Medicine and Pulmonary Disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in Sleep Medicine by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
Nelson Chao, MD, FCCP, FAAAAI has trained and is board certified in both Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy and Immunology. After residency in Internal Medicine at Cabrini Hospital in New York he did both his fellowships at Duke University Medical Center. He is an active teacher and attending in our Pulmonary Disease Fellowship program.
